போப்பையர் அதனை முற்றும் மொழிபெயர்த்தருளினார். பிரஞ்சு மொழியில் திருக்குறளின் இன்பச் சுவையை ஏற்றியவர் ஏரியல் என்னும் அறிஞர்[1]. அவருக்குப் பின் லெமிரேசர் என்பவர் திருக்குறள் முழுமையும் பிரஞ்சு மொழியில் எழுதிப் போந்தார்.[2] இங்ஙனம் பல தொண்டர்கள் பணி செய்த பான்மையாலேயே
"வள்ளுவன் தன்னை உலகினுக்கே தந்து
வான்புகழ் கொண்ட தமிழ்நாடு"
என்று பாடும் பெருமை இன்று தமிழ் நாட்டார்க்குக் கிடைத்தது.
கிருஸ்து மத வேதமாகிய பைபிளைத் தமிழில் மொழி பெயர்க்கும் சிறந்த பணியில் ஈடுபட்டார் சில தொண்டர். பாப்ரீசியர் என்னும் ஜெர்மானியப் பாதிரியார் பைபிளைப் பரிவுடன் மொழி பெயர்த்தார். ஆயினும் அதனை எல்லோரும் நன்றென ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளவில்லை. அதிற் கண்ட

M. Ariel refers to a translation of the Kural into French by some author about 1767 which is to the found in the Bibliotheque Nationale of Paris.
