PaaN'Tiya NeTunjcezhiyan the symbol of Justice Dr. D. SINGARAVELU Osmania University Cilapathikaaram is a very great work of literature. There are some dark corners in this work which can be more appreciated only when proper light is thrown on them. In this research paper, I propose to discuss only two such instances to show the greatness of the Paantian King Netunjcezhiyan who remained the symbol of Justice by noble deeds and sacrifice. The first point to decide is “When and where KaNNaki met the Paantiyaa king, who was the symbol of Justice.” The second point is “what is meant by fate and how far the fate affects the person. Regarding the first point, the author of this work says that the king was on “Arimaan eenhthiya amalhi when KaNNaki met him. (20: 24). While giving meaning for “Arimaan eenhthiya amalhi.” Prof. Veengatasaami nhaattaar says that the King was on “Cingam cumantha thavicu" in one place (p. 437) and in the introduction to Vazhakkurai kaathai, he says that the king was on “ariyanai” which means the throne (p. 432). Arumpatha Uraiyaaciriyar in his commentary gives the meaning of the word “th avicu" as “thatukku” (414–37). 422
