This proverb throws a light on the religious thought of the Hindus. Health afted Medicine : There are many proverbs pertaining to various aspects of licalth and medicine. Siddha and Ayurveda systems of medicine belong to this country. Dried ginger has a high degree of health and medical values. It is good for health, capable of healing illness and disease. Dried ginger plays a remarkable role in medicinal mixture in the indigenous medical systems of Siddha and Ayurveda. “There is no medicine without dried ginger’ is a proverb. (Sukku illatha kashayam undaa? – Tamil; ‘Sunti illade kashaayavilla’ – Kannada). It should be remembered that " dried ginger is widely used as a domestic medicine even today, particularly by the people in villages. It is cheep but best.
