These observation remind us of the fact that indian literature is one though written in different languages. Poli tical or other ideology may divide us;but literature unites us and unity is the need of the hour. It is, therefore needless to mention that through literature we can achieve emotional integration which is the bedrock of national unity. In other words, literature is an effective binding force in a multilingual country like ours. But this will be possible only through snstaind efforts of writers and scholars belo-nging to various languages. And the scholar-writer Thiru Manavai Mustafa’s present monograph is one such effort. 暢 Our Knowledege about the indian writers. past or present is very meagre, though several institutions and individuals have been striving hard to properly introduce them to the lovers of literature. A careful and unbiased study of the work of different writers of different languages will considerably help the growth of comparative literature. Thiru Mustafa's book is a collection of about forty well-written articles on modern writers belonging to Kannada, vialayalam and Telugu . Not only has he taken pains to collect valuable information about these writers of repute “but has also presented it in chaste and flowing langauage. nformative, and interestiong, the monograph, I am sure
