BEAUTY ROSE WEPT I will narrate The Scene I saw: In flower grove I now entered: Champak flower whispers Strange tidings Into the ears Of Jasmine flower: They both neared A Samanthi flower And whispered words: Then all the three Took Jasmine on ride And walked the grove: What do they seek These flower women? In search of thread To weave a garland? I stood staggered! "My foot aches" -Jasmine cried. "My legs bleed" -Champack groaned The flowers heard a wall And rushed to that spot 'O Lord! Renowned! Leader Immaculate! Where is the end That left us orphaned? You kissed And took us to your heart, You honeyed our lips And rhapsodised our hearts Drowning all In depths of joy- How dare you leave We four bereaved?" Hurling walls, She shed A flood of tears And stood - An enchanting Rose! Jasmine asked: "Why do you weep O Rosel So sweet? That Goodman lived To save oppressed But now he is gone Stop your wall You, Queen Flower! Smile." But Rose still wept: "Dewdrops were manna to me! He will not wear me anymore! Thorn pricks? Why this red? Why this perfume? He was on Throne of Bharath And I throned in his heart! A sleep will wake up: I was to dance with him! But he is gone! My life a grim bygone! Leave me alone and let me On his birthday offer myself At his tender feet!" -
