243 Maanickavaasagar thanked the Lord and sang “Naadagathhaal Unnadiyaar”(strl-zš strá a-sir sylą urriř). Maanickavaasagar donning his ministerial robes again appeared before the King. He handed over the present of the Lord to the King and informed him that the horses would reach the capital on the day of Aavani Moolam. The King was highly pleased with his Chief Minister. But his pleasure did not last long. The King's ministers reported that there was no sight of horses either at Thirupperunthurai or any where else. The king ordered Maanickavaasagar to be impri soned and punished. In the meantime, the Saint prayed and sang the padigam “Vellam Thaazh Viri sadaiyaai” (Garcher bzirgþ soif argol–uurruti) invoking the Lord’s grace. The torture inflicted on him by the soldiers was unbearable. Fixing his mind on Him, he sang “Tharikkileen Kaaya Waazhkkai (தரிக்கிலேன் காய வாழ்க்கை). As promised, the Lord willed that all the jackals of the place to be turned into horses on the Aavani Moolam day. Accordingly the horses arrived in Madurai City led by strange looking foreigners. The Lord came in the guise of their leader. When the king saw the fine horses, he was happy and immediately ordered Maanickavaasagar’s release. He also apologiscd to him. To thank the Lord, Maanickavaasagar sang “Anbinaal Adiyēn Aaviyodu Aakkai” (syairl PGsi gylą Guusir -ei 60Gurr@ ஆக்கை). Maanickavaasagar lost no time and has tened to the King’s Court as he was anxious to see the Lord who had come to his rescue. Searching questions were put by the King to the horse-dealer and the King asked his experts to satisfy them. selves about the quality of the horses. And they did so.
