Adigalar wanted peace everywhere. He built a place of worship at Mettukuppam three kilometres south of Vadalur. On January 30, 1874, Thai Poosam day, he exhorted the people assembled there. Then he entered his room. and bolted the door within. Then he is believed to have united with the "Jothi" (Light). Vallalar attained "death-less life". His principle and teachings of equality and oneness of all is followed through-out the world where Tamils live. His teachings transcend religious and caste barriers. == 161
