Khan. Jija Bai frowned at them for their carelessness in not going to Panhala to help Shivaji. At once they marched towards Panhala. They were held up by an army sent by Shaista Khan. In the battle that ensued, the son of Hilal Khan met with death.
Shivaji now got the vision of Tulaja Bhavani in his dream. As instructed by the goddess, Trimbak Bhasker was asked to guard the fort of Panhala and Shivaji left the fort at dead of night and marched to Vishalgarh fifty miles from Panhala. Shaista Khan sent one Mahsud to follow Shivaji and capture him. Jeswant of Pallivana and Surya Raja of Shringarpur laid siege to Wishalgarh but in vain. Then Shivajs marched to Rajghar and paid respects to his mother.
As instructed by Shivaji , Trimbak Bhasker gave up the fort of Panhala to Johor Khan and came to Shivaji. Ali Adil Shah suspected that Johor allowed Shivaji to escape by accepting a bribe and asked him to give away what all he received. Johor Khan being annoyed, left for Kurnool. Ali Adil Shah sent an army against him and he was poisoned and killed.
Shivaji now came to know that Shaista Khan had come along with Kar Talb Khan and encamped at Rajgarh. So be ordered his army to hide themselves in the forest. Kar Talb Khan, after conquering many forts entered the forest. In the battle Kar Talb Khan lost hopes of success and at the advise of Raja Vyagri, he sued for peace and returned to the camp of Shaista Khan.
Then Shivaji went to Pallivana whose ruler was Jeswant who was an ally of Surya Raja, the ruler of Shringarpur. Shivaji proclaimed a general amnesty and marching to Chitrapulina worshipped Parasuram, the deity of the place. Then he took in his favour Surya Rao to support his army at Sangameshvar, went to the west coast, subdued the foreign merchants and accepting as tribute all the articles of trade offered by them, encamped at
Rajpur.
As instructed by All Adil Shah, Surya Rao of Prabhavali, attacked Sangameshwar during night. But Mallisur repulsed the invader. Shivaji came to Sangameshwar and again pardoning Surya Rao, bade him to join hands with him. But he failed. Then Shivaji conquered the fort, named it Mandanghar and marched towards Shringarpur. Surya Raja fled away and Shivaji annexed the fort, and bade Trimbak Bhasker to be at Prabhavali. Then he remained at Shringarpur. In the southern region he then conquered
