மானங்காத்த மருதுபாண்டியர் 180 {1) Translation of an oleh from the Mittadar of Comery and Pappangulam to the collector, dated 20th February 1801; Received 23rd. After the usual compliments I have, since the disturbance of the rebels of Panchalamkurichi had taken place, aid the strictest injunctions on the whole of the village cawaigars in both taluks, as well as on the monigars of Makgaunaums to be always on the look out if any communication is kept between Shivaganga and Panjhalamkurchi and to secure such person or persons as may be of a suspicious character and to bring him or them immediately to me - I on my part was also day and night attentive. Whilst we were thus attentive a man having in the evening of the 19th entered the village Mulakara patti (of Mundaiamanikam Durmasenam in Comery). His appearance, having given the Cawaigar much suspicion by his enquiry of the price of dry grain and builocks as if he wanted to purchase he was secured and brought to me. thereupon questioned him who he was, of what country and where he eame, etc. He replied, 'I am a travelier and came to purchase some dry grain,\ but upon a private interrogation he answered as fosłows: "In the Shivaganga country I was in the service of Shevattu Tambei employed as a peon bearing musket. Soobien who was attending on Shevattur Tambei was ordered to proceed to Panchaiarnkurichi and I and ten of my men to accompany him and to obey his orders. On our arrival at Moolakarapatti village in Comery one of the men was stationed there as Tappa! man, to the south of which i was stationed at Tappalaykarch, another a Mootuputti near Nadicaud in the road to Naglipore and with the remainder seven men Soobien proceeded to Panchalamkurichi bearing strict orders to convey to the Aramanie: (the Sherogar of Sivaganga) at Seruvaya; the olehs he wiłł send to Panchalamkurichi : accordingly remained in a seret manner at Tappalakarch. On the 19th the Tappal man from Mootupatti brought and delivered to me an oleh which i conveyed to Moolakarapatti but not finding the Tappal man at the place, I went to the village in order to enquire of him, when I was observed and secured by the Cawalgar of the village who brought me hither, the oleh from Panchniamkurichi i have concealed. łn consequence of this discovery, desired the prisoner to give me a deciaration in writing of what he stated, which he did. then sent for the oleh and without tooking into it despatched it to the presence.
