INTRODUCTION
HANDICRAFTS, as a subject for the General Certificate of Education Examination embraces eight crafts, viz., Weaving, Pottery, Wood Work, Lacquer Work, Metal Work, Rattan Work, Coir Work and Leather Work. In this second Tamil Glossary under the general subject, terms in Wood Work and Lacquer Work have been taken up.
- 2. Here the user will find some words which have gained currency by usage and hence have boen accepted, along with many other words specially chosen. The existing terms are easily understood by craftsmen. All through the golssary, Tamil intonation of words has been maintained and the rise of Grantha characters have been avoided.
