I - DiSCUS THROW What is the meaning of the word Discus? Discus comes from the ancient Greek Work Discos, means Thing for throwing. Probably just a rough stone. What is the weight of discus used for the Competition? For men, minimum weight is 2 Kg. For women, 1 Kg. For Senior boys 1.5kg. How is the discus constructed? Wood and Brass are used to Construct a discus. The sides and centre portion of the discus are made by brass. The remaining portion is wood. What are the qualities of a discus thrower? 1.
