சைவ சித்தாந்தம் சிறந்த தத்துவக் கருத்துக்களைக் கொண்டிலங்குகின்றது; வேறு எந்தச் சமயத்திலும் அவ்வாறில்லை. சைவ சமயம் மிக்க தொன்மை வாய்ந்தது; சிறப்பு வாய்ந்தது. சைவ சித்தாந்தம் தமிழர்க்கே உரியது; தனித்து இயங்கும் தன்மையது; அனைவராலும் கற்றற்குரியது. இந்திய மக்களின் சிறந்த எண்ணங்களுக்கும் வாழ்க்கை நெறிக்கும் ஓர் எடுத்துக்காட்டாக, கலங்கரை விளக்கமாக இலங்குகின்றது.
தற்கால இந்து சமயத்தின் இரு கண்களாகச் சைவமும் வைணவமும் விளங்குகின்றன: உயிர்நாடியெனினும் அது மிகையாகாது.
