பிற்பயக்கும் பீழை பெரிது : பீழை-' பிழை யென்பது பீழையென நீண்டதெனவும், "பீடா" வென்னும் வடசொற் சிதைவெனவுங் கூறுவாருமுளர்.--வி. கோ. சூ.
' பீழை என்னும் வடமொழிச் சிதைவ ; நாடிகாவென்றது நாழிகை யென்று வந்தாற்போல.” -உ. வே. சா.
Learning at first painful, will afterwards afford pleasure. It will destroy ignorance and extend knowledge. But the pain, which succeeds to the shortlived pleasure of immoderate lust, is great, O thou, adorned with perfect jewels! —H. S.
