அ. அவையஞ்சு கல்வி 31 இல்லாள் தற்கொண்டாம் பேணி யறுசுவையுண்டி யமர்ந்து பாட்டவேண்டியவ ளாதலின் அதனைச் செய்யாது, கொண்டகனவன், காலையில் தொழிற்பொருட்டு வெளியே வயல் முதலிய இடங்கட்குச் சென்று வியர்த்திளைத்துத் திரும்பியவன் மேலுங் துயருறும்படி அயல பன் அகம் அடைந்திருப்பதுணரின், அத்தகைய மனைமாட்சியற்ருள் தனக்கு கலம்பயவாதவள் என்று விலக்கப்படுதல் கூடும். ஆனல் கம்ம கல்வி அங்கனமும் நீக்கப்படமுடியாத தென்பார் இல்லினும் பொல்லாதே என்ருர்.” -இள. தீதேன்று நீப்பரிதால் : நீப்பு- நீ, என்ற பகுதியடியாகப் பிறந்த தொழிற்பெயர். கா - காப்பு என்பது போல.” -வி. கோ. துரு. * கல்வியானது மனைவிபோலப் பிறி கின்கிழமைப் பொருளாகாது தற்கிழமைப் பொருளாய் நிற்றலின் தீதென்று ப்ேபரிதால் என்ருர்.” -வி. கோ. சூ. * அம் மனைவி உதவாளென்று அகற்றிவிடுதலைப்போலக் கல்வி தீயதென்று நீத்தலளிது ; ஆதலின் அவளைக் காட்டிலும் பொல்லா தென்ருர். கற்ற கல்வி பிறவிதோறும் தொடருமாதலின் நீப்பரிதா யிற்று.” -உ. வே. சா. The shrinking learning of men broken by long study, which is not available in public, is worse than a wife seen in broad day-light in a neighbour’s company, for it is an evil that cannot be put away. —H.S. The disgraceful learning of those who lose themselves in an assembly of the Wise, and can make no use of the knowledge they have acquired after years of industry, is worse than one’s wife discovered with a stranger ; for the former cannot be cast off as evil. —C. The learning of those who shrink back with shame before the assembly and possess no ability to display before it the knowledge they have acquired by longstudy is worse than a wife seen in broad day-light in a neighbour's company, for the latter evil can be put away, but not the former One. — S. W. Worse than the wife detected in adultery in mid-day is the learning acquired through a long time but found useless before a learned assembly.
