FOREWORD A major reform in the Educational system, as *ecommended by the Kothari commission in 1966 and accepted by a policy resolution of the Government of Índia in 1968, is in the process of introduction in 'Several parts of the country. Tamilnadu has also fallen in line with other states and has decided to implement the reform effective from 1978. The reform consists ‘mainly of restructuring the terminal years and is popularly known as 10+2+3. Thanks to the wide "publicity in the press all over the country the public are aware of the term' 10+2+3. But what exactly it is and 'why it is sought to be introduced requires a detailed -explanation for the benifit of the general public. Such an explanation is provided in this book lucidly written thy Prof. A. M. Paramasivanandam. Himself an experienced teacher, well-versed in several facets of education and as one who is presently experiencing the organisation and conducting of a popular Higher Secondary School, he is eminently fitted to write on this subject.
