PREFACE TO THE FIRST EDITION This is an adaptation of an English drama of the same name by my friend Mr. V. V. Srinivasan, I have to thank him for his having kindly given me permission to translate his work. The request of several societies, that I should give them something in Tamil, which could be enacted in an hour and a half, for an aniversary or so, has induced me to translate this and other works of my friend, into Tamil, I take this opportunity to inform all societies, amateur and professional, that they should cbtain my previous permission before staging this or any other drama of mine.
