The Naik of Tiruchirapalli waged war with Ekoji and ceded the district of Sendalai to Ekoji.

In Saka 1598 (A.D. 1676) a third son was born to Ekoji. He was named Tukkoji.

Ekoji had a daughter by his second wife Annu Bai.

Further he had nine sons by his concubines.

He passed away in Saka 1604 (A.D. 1682).

Shahji (III) the eldest son of Ekoji ascended the

o 11 th?one and ruled as directed by his mother Deepa Bai.

  • ...*.*The wife of shahj (III) was simha Bai. He had also a

few other wives.

He successfully put down the insurrection of Mulla and also that of Zulfikar Khan.

In Saka 1617 (A. D. 1685) a son was born to Tukkoji, his second brother. This son was named Ekoji (W). He was also known by the name Bava Sahcb. o

Shahji (III) died in Shaka 1633 (A.D. 1711).

Sarabhoji (III) succeeded him. He had three wives, Sulakshna Bai, Apurupa Bai, and Rajasa Bai.

During his reign many nobles from Bijapur came to Thanjavur and they were all treated with care. *

His brother Tukkoji married five wives - Aruna Bai, Rajkumara Bai, Mohana Bai, Mohina Bai, Lakshumi Bai. He had also six concubines. Of them five belonged to Naik caste and one was Maratha. The Maratha lady Annapoorna Bai was a sword-wife. In Shaka 1641 (A. D. 1719) she had a son who was named Prathapa Simha. She had a daughter, Simha Bai. The sons by the other wives were Maloji, Anna Saheb alias Harischandra Raja and Nana Saheb. Two girls were also born to them.

Pratap Simha had five wives - Ahalya Bai, Yamuna Bai, Sakwar Bai, Draupati Bai and Eswant Bai, and he had seven concubines.
