PUBLISHER's NOTE The “Sankara Rajendra Cholan Ula” is a poetical work of historical significance about a Prince of the Chola dynasty. The original of this work was acquired by Dr. U. W. Swaminatha Aiyar in the last century and a paper mss, was kindly made available to the Library by his grandson from the Doctor’s rare collections, together with the notes jotted down by him. Wageesa Kalanidhi Sri K. V. Jagannathan, a devoted student of the revered Doctor and who is the Director of Research of the Library, has, in his exhaustive preface, thrown considerable light on the historical importance of this work and has also supplied notes wherever necessary. The Library is grateful to him for it. It is hoped that scholars and students of History and Tamil Literature will be greatly benefited by this publication which is timed to coincide with the 123rd birthday of Dr. Iyer and the 33rd Annual Day of the Library.
