முன்னுரை உண்டி முதற்றே உலகம் இயங்கினும் உண்டியையும்விட உலகில் இன்றியமையாதது ஆடை என்பது சான்றோர் தம் முடிபு, இதனை, 'கொடுப்பது அழுக்கறுப்பான் சுற்றம் உடுப்ப தூஉம் உண்பதூஉம் இன்றிக் கெடும்'என்னும் வள்ளுவர் வாக்குத் தெனிவாக்கும். தெய்வப் புவவர் இக்குறவில் உயிர் கொடுக்கும் உண்டியை முதலில் கூறவில்லை. மயிர் தீப்பின் வாழாக் கவலி மான் அள்ள மாந்தர்க்குத் தேவையான உடையையே சொல்லிச் செல்கின்றார். மாந்தனிடம் தனிச்சிறப்புப் பெற்ற ஆடை எண் வகை இன்பம். எண்னெண் ஆலைகள் இவற்றுள் ஒன்றெனத் திகழும் தன்மையையும் பெற்றுள்ளது. ஆடையில்லா மனிதன் அரைமனிதன், ஆன்பாதி ஆடைபாதி என்ற தமிழர் மொழி களும் இதன் 'காரணமாகக் கிளைத்தனவே. அறிஞர் பலரும் இதன் மேன்மையினைத் தம் சொற்களால் சிறப்பித்துள்ளனர்.• 1.
