Decad: 2 ThirLICH Chaazhal Sub-title: Civanudaiya Kaarunniyam (Mercy of Civan) Abstract: This decad is in the form of question and answer and an argument between an impertinent maiden and the maid-in-love who tries to answer fairly well. But the 10th verse is not in this form and it expounds the exceeding Bliss which the saint as the maid-in-love enjoys. The glory and mighty acts of Civan are explained in this decad. The Lord of the universe (2) Who does not know His own greatness(19) is lonely (3) is the Supreme for all by nature (1) has graciously punished Cupid and others, has saved the world from the great flood (7) and eaten the deadly poison(8) has wedded the supreme Dame before a Fire to preserve all the moral teachings and values in all the worlds (13) has taught the nature of the world(20) has put down the foul dance of the gang of kaali by His dance of gnosis(14) has exhibited the end of the universe by His own ornaments of skulls and bones of even gods (11) and has been graciously dancing showering in His grace His Bliss to His devotees at Thillai (9) while the Vedaas extol Him as the Lord of the universe(17) and the heavenly beings worship Him with flowers(12,18). The saint has put it in a nut-shell how he, a mere cur, sought refuge in the endless One and how He in His grace immersed him in the flood of His Bliss(10). This is the greatest lesson, the gretest path, the greatest goal and the greatest attainment which the saint has passed on to posterity by this verse of this decad. 450
