Perhaps these are the symptoms of love intoxicated persons with love for God! It may be said that the lady-love-(the damsel) is the soul struggling to reach God, her lover by devotion and deep love. That it is still in the grip of the bonds is expressed in the fact that the damsel is still asleep in bed. The girls who arouse her from slumber to go to bathe are the enlightened souls who call the struggling soul to come out liberated from the bonds to reach Him for eternal Bliss. It is therefore that the saint depicts in this decad that he is one of the highly devoted souls striving hard to reach Him by divine love for everlasting Bliss. That there was a custom for the maidens to have bath in the chilly early morning hours of the month of Maarghazhi is evident from the last verse (7:20). That they used to invoke the grace of Sakthi - the energy manifestation of Civan, can be seen in the verses 13,14 and 16 for being blessed to have suitable husbands (9,19) and for down-pour (16). An excellent description of the nature of the God-mad person (lady-love) is contained in the 15th stanza. The content of the sub-title “Amazed at the act of Sakthi" may be seen either directly or indirectly in the verses.
