PREFACE The main portion of this drama, as it is printed, formed the prose-scenario of the Tamil Talkie entitled “Sati-Sulochana’’ which I directed some time back at Calcutta. The great success which attended it, probably made my actor friends ask me to print it as a Tamil Drama. I promised to comply with their request and hence this Drama, in its present form. It contains about 40 songs; hence I would class it as an Opera. Now that Tamil Talkies have become so very popular, this may also be useful for budding scenario-writers to a certain extent as a model. I have to warn all Societies and Companies desirous of staging this (or any other drama by me) that they have to pay the usual royalty and obtain my permission before staging sa me ; otherwise they make themselves liable to be prosecuted under the Copyright Act before a Magistrate's Court. “PAMMAL LODGE” G, T, MAD RAS.
