after the restoration of the idol to the temple by Rama Rayan it had again been removed and its shrine probably destroyed. In order to re-instal it with due honour, Krishnappa Nayaka ordered the old shrine to be repaired and even perhaps enlarged'
This was the cause of the whole trouble. "The priests of the Temple which were the Treasuries” Continues, pimenta (were) with standing, and threatening if it was done, to cast down themselves from the top. The Brahmanes of the temple Swore to do the like after they buried the former, which yet after better advice they performed not". But Krishanppa Nayaka was unmoved by any such threat. When the reconstruction of the shrine was carried on with out hesitation where upon the priests climbing one of the high Gopurams of the temple started to cast themselves down while the Nayak was in the temple. 'Aboat twenty bad perished in that precipitation on that day of our departure, whereat the Naichus angry, caused his gunners to shoot at the rest which killed two of them. A woman also was so hot in this Zealous quarrel taat she cut her own throat", Naturally Krishnappa Nayaka accomplished his purpose in spite of this opposition.
நந்திவர்மபல்லவன் திருமால் மூர்த்தத்தைத் தில்லைக் கோயிலில் பிரதிஷ்டை செய்த காலத்தில் அத்திருமேனி திண்ணையளவாக அமைத்த சிறிய இடத்திலே தான் வழிபடப் பெற்றது. பின் நானூறு ஆண்டுகள் கழித்து அச்சுதராயர் பிரதிஷ்டை செய்ததும் அதே இடத்தில் தான். சமயவெறிபிடித்த வையப்ப கிருஷ்ணப்ப கொண்டம நாயக்கன் என்பான் கி.பி 1597-இல் முன்னிருந்த அத் தெற்றியம்பலத்தளவில் நில்லாது நடராசர்சந்நிதிமுகப்பிலுள்ள இடத்தையும் சேர்த்துக் கொண்டு, கோவிந்த ராசப் பெருமாளுக்குத் தனிக் கோயில் கட்டிவிட்டான். இந்த வம்புகளுக்கெல்லாம் காரணம் வைஷ்ணவத்தை எங்கும் பரப்ப வேண்டுமென்று முயன்ற விசயநகர அரசர்களும் அவர்களுக்குத் துணை நின்ற அவர்களுடைய குரு தாதாசாரியாரும்
