அண்ணாவின் தலைமை உரைகள்/Preface
PREFACE
Anna is a morning. star in the oratorical world He was the only orator who attracted all kinds of audience. His speeches abound in beautiful ideas and the literary devices that he employs surpass one another. ... It has been seriously planned to publish all his speeches under perfect classification so as to be useful to three categories of people, namely, research scholars, critics and readers.
Under this programme, now, the second Tamil publication, Anna’s Presidential Addresses, has been brought out. Of course many titles will follow this venture soon.
When Anna served as Chief Minister, the presidential addresses he had delivered on various occasions from 26–2–67 to 7–12–68 are 27 in number. In addition to these addresses, the address that he gave while presiding over the drama Inbakkanavu (Dream of Pleasure) is also included in the book. Thus the presidential addresses of Anna are 28 in number. This publication is over with these addresses for a period of two years, except Inbakkanavu. The addresses delivered before this time limit, will be collected and published in due course. Each and every address has been given an appropriate title.
In fine, I request with all humility the readers of Anna and others to extend solid support to make this Tamil publication venture a success. It is a matter for gratification that this publication is sponsored by Anna Elakkiya Peravai, Thanjavur District. In this connection, I thank wholeheartedly beloved Dr. C.N.A. Parimalam, for his fitting foreword.
A favour done in time, though small, is much
larger than the world.
