27 At Thirupunthuruthti (50.55 to figs(535) Appar Swamigal saw Sambandar being carried in a palanquin. He silently and unnoticed mingled with the palanquin bearers. When Sambandar discovered this, he was shocked and there upon alighted and fell at the feet of the elder Saint. Appar bowed to Sambandar and in turn praised him for his victory at Madurai. Sambandar returned to Sirkazhi and then went to a place called Thiruvothur (§Cossassrogrff) where a miracle happenedThere, he converted the sterile palmyras of a devotee into fruitful ones by singing the padigam ‘Puth the rudhaayana. (k!.5Gäsijärusar). Then he proceeded to Tiruvotriyur (திருவொற்றியூர்). In the mean time at Mylapore, there was a merchant named Sivanesar (GalCorri'). He had a fair daughter called Poompavai (urburgogu). Hearing about the greatness of Sambandar, he had resolved to give his daughter in marriage to him. But unfortunately she had been bitten by a snake one day, resulting in her death. After cremation he had gathered her bones and ashes in a pot. Sivanesar accorded a grand reception to the Saint at Tiruvotriyur and related the story of Poompavai’s death and requested him to go to Mylapore. After worshipping Kapaliswarar at the Mylapore Temple, he requested Sivanesar to bring the remains of his daughter before the temple. He sang the padigam "Mat tittapunnai' (lolo-to-Lo-L Lješrāor), and there came out of the pot the girl alive. Sivanesar entreated the Saint to marry her. Samban dar declined the proposal stating that, as he was instrumental for her re-birth, he assumed the role of a father. Sambandar returned to Sirkazhi and arrangements for marriage were made. At first Sambandar rejected the proposal but later agreed to please his parents and relatives. A bride was chosen. She was the daughter of Nambiandar Nambi of Na Ilur.
