Jadaw Rao was in utter confusion. Now Ali Adil Shah welcomed him to his side to fight Nizam Shah. Jadaw Rao advised him to procure the help of Jehangir. Shahji, his brother Sarabhoji, Vitthoji's sons and many other nobles of Nizam Shah gathered together and defeated the army of Ali Adil Shah. Though Johor khan killed Sarabhoji, the brother of Shahji, Shahji returned victoriously with the spoils of war to Nizam Shah, followed by Ambar Khan, the commander. Shahji was now showered with lawrels of honour.
Keloji, son of Vitthoji, entertained jealousy on Shahji and desired such, honour to be conferred on him. Ambar Khan, who grew jealous of Shahji, also pleaded on his behalf and obtained great honours for Keloji. Shahji, dis-liking this, retired to Satara.
Ali Adil Shah on hearing the news of the defection of Shahji tried his best to enrol him in his camp. Shahji accepted the offer and invaded the domain of Nizam Shah. Ambar Khan was utterly defeated. Shahji was conferred with half of Ali Adil Shah's dominion as Jagir. Afterwards Shahji defated one Muthe Khan and then invading Kerala and other regions bade them pay tribute to Ali Adil Shah.
while Shahji was residing at Bijapur, in Saka 1349 (A. D. 1627), his second wife Jija Bai gave birth to a son who was named Sambhaji. Four more sons were also born to them and all died in childhood.
By this time Ambar Khan was dead and Ibrahim Khan, the father of Ali Adil Shah, also expired.
Now Jehangir sent Darya Khan with an army to attack Nizam Shah.
Nizam Shah sent for Shahji and Jadaw. Rao and both came to Dharagiri.
In the vicinity of Dharagiri is Shivaneri which belonged to Viswasa Rao who had a daughter named Jayanthi Bai. She was given in marriage to Sambhaji, the son of Shahji.
Now Nizam shah bade Shahji to attack Darya Khan and sent word to Jadaw Rao to have an interview witn him.
At this juncture, Jija Bai, the second wife of Shahji was pregnant. Shahji left her at Shivaneri and marched against Darya Khan. While he was engaged in war with Darya Khan, Jija Bai delivered a male child in Saka
