Before he ascended the throne, the former Resident Mac Leod produced false accounts with regard to the payment of amounts due to him This was represented to the Governor by Sarabhoji in his letter dated 27-51800. The Governor after conducting enquiries found Mac Leod guilty and removed him from company's service. At the time of enquiry Torin was the Resident. Dattaji was sent to Madras to give evidence. Mac Leod appealed to Sarabhoji for mercy and Sarabhoji not only excused him but also paid him a sum of Rs. 10,000).

Ahalya Bai, the se&ond wife of Sarabhoji gave birth to a daughter named Sulakshana Bai.

In A. D. 1801 Sarabhoji sent his force to help the English in their expedition against the Poligars of Madurai.

a choultry in her name. So he constructed one at Orattanad and named it after her.

Sarabhoji toured throughout the Chola nadu once. He went on pilgrimage to Srirangam once. He visited Sangamukham once and went to Palani

once. Every where he was honoured according to one of the clauses in the treaty.

According to another clause in the treaty, the company was empowered to garrison the fort with English troops whenever a war broke out. As Resident Black Burne was greatly attached to Sarabhoji, this clause was note given effect to.

On the eve of his pilgrimage to Palani, a second daughter was born to Ahalya Bai. She was named Rajkumara Bai.

A new bird called “Bhaj" came to Thanjavur by this time.

The king at this time was leading a virtuous life and spending his time in performing sacred duties.
