Decad: 14 Thiruvunthiyaar Sub-title: Gnaana Vettri (Victory through Gnosis) (sung at Thillai) Thiru=sacred: vunthi=bouncing: yaar is an honorific suffix. In this decad all the stanzas end with the words “Vunthee parra” which mean bounce and fly in joy. Perhaps there was a game of maidens in this name when they used to jump up with the toes and fly about in joy, singing songs. There is also one excellent poem in the same name Thiruvunthiyaar among the old Caiva philosphic doctrines. This decad is made up of 20 stanzas of 3 lines each in kali-th thaazhisai metre. The saint has made use of this game of maidens as a tool for his bridal mysticism in order to grasp His unreachable hands singing His mighty glory and triumph of legendary deeds. 467
