Decad: 14 Thiruvunthiyaar Sub-title: Gnana Vettri (Victory of Gnosis) Abstract: This decad deals mostly with the victory of Civan over the flying fortresses of Asuras and over Thakkan. The sub-title is victory offin Gnosis. Gnosis is divine wisdom made up of knowledge and sanctity. The first four stanzas speak of the victory of Civan in destroying the three cities. Stanzas five to sixteen deal with His victory in destroying the sacrifice of Thakkan. The seventeenth stanza speaks of His grace in creating a sea of milk for the sake of a child Upamanyar since there was none in the house. In the eighteenth stanza the victory of Civan in severing one of the five heads of Brahma is sung. The nineteenth stanza deals with the victory of Civan in crushing all the ten heads and twenty hands of the great Raavana. One may therefore see that the five great acts of Civan have been narrated in this decad. It depicts not only the downfall and destruction due to autocratic ego of “I”andomine” but also the sanction of His grace for surrender and wailing. This may perhaps indicate the victory of Gnosis. 480
