7. Thiruvempaavai . In stanza 15 the maidens describing the nature of the God-mad lady-love sport about. “Crying now and then, “Our Lord, Our Lord” she will not cease speaking the glories of our Lord. Her mind filled with joy, her eyes dewing with ceaseless stream of tears, she resembles Her Who comes down to earth once a while and she will not worship the heavenly beings. Oh maidens of corsetted jewelled breasts, let us sing to our mouth's content of the foot of that Adept Who is capable of thus making one His own, by making her mad thus with love for Him-the great Lord. Let us dive in this lovely water teeming with flowers and sport about, Oh our Paavaai!” (7:15) Instanza 16the maidens address the cloud to pour down like the grace of the Dame on devotees. “Oh cloud! Shrink the sea first and rise up in the colour of Her Who owns us, glisten as lightning like the slender waist of Her Who has a way over us. Reverberate like the golden anklet on the divine Feet of our Dame, display a rainbow like Her brow and pour down like the very sweet grace which She Who lords over us, pours on the devotees of our Lord Who is never disjunct form Her!” (7:16) 359
