Decad: 38 Thiruvesaravu (Sacred Eulogy) Sub-title: Suttarivu Ozhiththal (Extirpating specific thought) Abstract: In this decad of Sacred Eulogy the saint feels deeply that it is God Who entered in him graciously that he may sever his wordly life. So he praises Him that, but for His grace, he would have been lost in the cruel hell of birth and death (3.7). He gained a vision of His feet to the delight of his eyes only by His grace (2,3,9) and through the power of His word(5). He feels elated for his own Thavam (pious deeds of devotional meditation) as he was enabled to chant the sacred and mystic syllables of Ci, Vaa, Ya, Na, Ma. Hence Lord Civan Who tastes sweet like honey and delicious Ambrosia came on His own accord and entered his heart (10) out of love (7). The sub-title of this decad Suttarivu. Ozhiththal means to extirpate that specific knowledge of distinguishing the object of realisation and the person who realises it. It appears to be more or less the same as Suttaruththal which is the title of sub-decad 3 of Poem 5 of Thiruvaachagam which means to sever the specific knowledge of self though there is a subtle difference . One may easily find the content of one of the verses of the sub-decad Suttaruththal (5:3:6) appearing to be more or less impregnated in all the verses of this decad(38:1 to 10) with the sub-title Suttarivu.
