Decad: 10 Thirukkoththumbi Sub-title: Civanodu Aikkiyam (Uniting with Civan) (Sung at Thiisai) Thiru-sacred; ko-king; Thumbi-Dragon. In this decad the saint in his bridal mysticism resorts to the traditional manner of sending a messenger to the lover-Civan. He has chosen the King of the dragon-flies. probably Euplaea splendens, which used to abound in the flowery groves surrounding the temples in south India. The decad is made up of 20 verses of 4 lines each of Tharavu-Kochchakakalippa metre. The last word in each verse is a vocative addressed to King dragon and the word Thiru is not a prefix to Thumbi but an attribute to the decad. The bride in love addresses the King dragonfly: 4O1
