This evening a letter came to me which explained the theft com- mitted by my friend Mr. K. On hearing it. It was surprised, and with two other friends, I asked K. whether he did it, which he confessed and so I presented him with three rupees.

This evening at Mutt I delivered a lecture on Sivagnanabotham which was very sweet and impressive and clearly arranged. In the middle of my lecture, one Mr. K. out of envy, asked me an absurd question whether I can call vedas as mayaka Nool (шшáá á), to which I gave a shrewd answer.

I have an insatiable thirst for buying high class books. By high class, I mean critical works on poetry, philosophy and also poems, written by and such poets as Milton, Shelly, M.Arnold and Keats. I greatly dislike Byron. I bought John Morley's Life and Gladstone's 1st and 2nd part.

I heard the very sad news that the great champin of India. Mr. Balaganghadara Tilak, was transported to Andamans on the pretended charge of sedition. We all felt a keen sorrow at the separation of this great patriot.

Oh! Mother India! Are Thy sons of suffer thus!
