23. Cheththilaappaththu “Oh Civan abiding in Thirupperunthurai: Considering this out- caste as something of worth, You bestowed Your grace on me! On Your doing so I feeling glad walked on my head. Oh Rider of the steed Oh Sankara ! On The dwelling place of countless heavenly ones Oh Eternal One Who ate the poison from the billowing sea Oh Archer Who burnt the cities of (those who did not obey) Your foes! Command that Ishould die”. (23:3), “Oh Civan who abides in Thirupperunthurai ' While many like those becoming Your devotees trying head deeds of penitence, many like those whose bones melting like wax before fire, contemplating on You and many a one here like Ayan and Maal standing around, are all waiting why did You enslave me. My mind is hard knotted wood of Paraai, my eyes are senseless, like wood, my eyes are dull and harder than iron. Oh Lord of Paraaithurai in the south ! Oh Civan of the world of Bliss!” (23:4) “Oh Civan abiding in Thirupperunthurai ' I have discarded the law of the Devaas and out of love, Oh Teacher: I will abide by the way of Your grace. Oh Rare Being! Whom even the earth-born Devaas cannot approach! Oh my Lover Showing me the grace that I may not quit You for ever and showing me Your jewelled twin Feet, You in Your grace would not rid away the delusions of the body? Oh Lord of the actuating Devaas” (23:5) 573
